This morning we went to the doctor for Cullen's two month check up and shots. He's a growing boy and everything looks good. He has a flat spot on his right side because he prefers that side to sleep, but the doctor said that would most likely go away when he starts sitting up. He was cooing away and smiling at Dr. Perriello and she was impressed with his leg strength and head control. He got both of his two month shots plus a liquid vaccine which he gulped down. He cried during the shots, but calmed down within a few minutes and handled them well. The past week he has been sleeping for 6 hour stretches and she did warn me that often babies will do that around 2 months for about 2 weeks, and then go back to 3-4 hours stretches. I'm hoping that is not the case with Cullen!

Cullen's First Vacation
We took our first trip with Cullen this past weekend to the VA Beach/Newport News area for Andrew's district tennis tournament. The drive is only 2.5-3 hours, so we knew it would be manageable, but I was worried about Cullen screaming in the hotel and distracting other guests. I shouldn't have worried...he was an excellent traveler. We had a few crying fits in the car. On the way down, one crying fit was stopped with some singing and the second crying fit was stopped with a bottle. On the way back, I had forgotten to pack all of the attachments for my pump, so I was not able to have a bottle for him. His crying fit on the way home was stopped by me feeding him in the Dairy Queen parking lot - classy!
We had SUCH a great time. Cullen was super well behaved. And I was especially happy because he decided to increase his sleep time on our trip - each night we got a 5-6 hour stretch. We will see how tonight goes, but I'm hoping this is a permanent change and not just because he liked the hotel so much.
Andrew played some great tennis and his team fell just short of advancing to the state competition, finishing in 2nd place. Cullen and I were able to go to one match on Friday (where he wore the adorable Ralph Lauren tennis outfit from Cathay and Jesse) and one match on Saturday. We also took him out to dinner with the team on Friday night and he slept the entire 3 hours we were there. I'm hoping the plane on Friday and the trip home to Louisiana go just as smoothly!

And lots of sleeping, which I LOVED :)

Cullen: Seven Weeks Old
Cullen turned seven weeks old yesterday on July 4th. We went to the Boar's Head pool for lunch, but had to make a speedy exit because his diaper exploded all over mommy. Cullen has changed a lot in the past week. He smiles all the time, "talks" (coos) a ton, and even tries to imitate us. When we say "Who is #1...Cullen is #1" and hold up our index finger, he holds up his index finger as well. When we click our tongue, he tries to make the same noise. During "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star", we open and close our fingers, and he attempts to do this as well. It's so much fun! He's a big fan of nursery rhymes and music. He's sleeping pretty well, and some nights we get a 4-5 hour stretch of sleep. We're working on making this more consistent. Here is a video with lots of cooing and smiling. He gets chatty around the 1:30 mark.

Thank You, Mom
My mom came this past week for 4 days and was a tremendous help! Thank you for changing TONS of diapers, for playing with Cullen in the early morning hours so that we could sleep in, and for teaching him (and reminding me) of numerous nursery rhymes that Cullen enjoyed so much. We loved having you here and miss you tons. Love you!
