Lila Cate: Three Months

Lila Cate is such an easy going baby. She only cries when she is hungry. She smiles a lot when we talk to her or sing to her. And she loves to 'talk' back to us. She has a sweet, soft voice. She loves her brother, and smiles at him when he talks to her (and gets in her face), which is pretty much all the time.

She usually wakes up twice at night, between 2-3 am and 5-6 am. Her eyes are brown and her hair is still dark.

Lila loves to 'stand' and put weight on her legs. She also likes being held upright. She hates being held in the feeding position (unless she is eating). She still loves kicking around on her play gym on the floor. Her head control is pretty good, and she can hold it up with minimal support. She finally started taking a pacifier at the end of this month. It took about a week for her to adjust to a bottle, but now she has it down.

On January 11, Lila had her first babysitter (besides her grandparents). Kali came over to watch Cullen and Lila for my work holiday party.

I went back to work on January 27. It was EXTREMELY difficult for me. I enjoyed every minute of my maternity leave. Spending all day with Lila Cate was perfect and being able to pick Cullen up early from school was awesome. It was also a real blessing to get to spend 4 weeks in Louisiana. My parents came up to Charlottesville to watch Lila Cate my first week back. Lila started half days of daycare on February 3. She is at First Steps Infant Development Center. Cullen also went to daycare there, but he didn't start until he was 1. I am very happy with the baby room, but it's still really hard to not be with her every day. I'm going to feed her every day at lunch which helps.

Lila Cate: Two Months

On December 5, we started our 2-day road trip to Louisiana. It couldn't have been easier. We made it to Louisiana by lunch time on December 6. Cullen watched the iPad the entire trip and Lila Cate slept most of the way.

Being in Louisiana for 4 weeks was one of the best experiences. Andrew got to catch 2 Saints games and the grandparents did an awesome job of loving on Lila and entertaining Cullen.

Cullen got to:
Go eat at Galatoire's Bistro with me, Grandma, Art and JL.
Go with Grandma to the Dog Adoption House
Play tennis two times a week at Bocage
Make pizza and gingerbread houses at the Young Chef Academy with Grandma
Go to the Playmaker's Santa play with Grandma and Papa
Go to the Snow globe movie at the library with mommy and daddy
Go to the Zoo with Grandma and Papa
Go to the University Acres park
Go to the Bass Pro Shop with Papa and Uncle Dave
Play in the yard with Rufus
Feed Rufus and Pretty Girl every morning and do his advent calendars
Go to 2 LSU basketball games

And Lila Cate got to be held 24/7 by her parents and grandparents. Lila Cate started smiling a lot this month (around week 6) and 'talking' (cooing) a good bit. She really likes her play mat and hates tummy time. We have done a horrible job of establishing any sort of routine with Lila, so she still eats around the clock and will only go to sleep after eating. You love when we sing the Itsy Bitsy Spider and Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, complete with hand motions. On a good night, Lila will go for a 5 hour stretch of sleep, and then 3 hours after that. Most nights, she still wakes every 3 hours.
January 6: 10 lb 11 oz (31%), 23 inches long (70%), 15.5 inch head circumference (80%)

Andrew and I got to go on a few dates to Juban's and The Little Village.

We had a wonderful Christmas with the family. Guerry, Stacey and Olive came to town and we all got to meet Olive. Poor baby was sick, but cute as can be. Aunt Beth, Art, Anne, Stephen, Betty and Luke also came to Christmas lunch at my parent's house.

On December 26, we drove down to New Orleans for the week. Anne hosted a family party the night we got in which was a lot of fun. Lila Cate got to meet most of the Juges and Cary and little Bradley. Cullen had another huge Christmas with tons of toys, including an electronic motorcycle. Cullen got to go to a Pelicans game with Daddy and Pampaw!

We drove back to Charlottesville on December 31 for a New Year's Day arrival. It was tough to return to reality.
