Cullen: Nine Months Old

My little baby was 9 months old last week. NINE freaking months. That sounds SO much closer to one year old than 8 months did. He's growing too fast for me and he has changed so much since my last post. I feel like he's really grown from little baby to big boy.

He is crawling all over the place very quickly. He pretty much finds anything he is not supposed to touch and goes straight for that. Favorites include: wires (cell phone charger wires, cable tv wires, laptop wires, you get the drift), the fireplace, and electronics (the actual cell phones, laptops, etc). He also loves crawling on the bathroom floor (gross!).

He pulls up on everything and likes to stand and bounce. We've lowered his crib to the lowest setting but my tall boy has still found a way to pull up the minute he gets in his crib and try to climb out. This has made the sleep situation VERY challenging the past few weeks.
My once perfect nighttime sleeper (7:30 pm to 7:30 am each night) is now ready to start the day early...sometimes 4 am EARLY. I am NOT an early person. We have given him some tough love and he is now waking up closer to 6:30 am. I'm hoping we'll eventually get him back to 7:00 am in due time. His naps have been pathetic. On average he'll sleep twice for 20 minutes.

He eats solids 3 times a day and snacks on some cheerios. He still isn't very good at grabbing the cheerios and putting them in his mouth, but we're working on it. We're also trying to master the sippy cup. He's getting better, but still likes his mommy and daddy to hold it for him. He usually eats yogurt with smashed fruit in the morning, a veggie baby food at lunch, and a fruit or veggie in the evening. He's a good eater.

He still only has his 2 bottom teeth. He's started to show some signs of teething again, so the top teeth might be making an appearance this month.

We had to get a convertible carseat for him because he wasn't fitting in the infant seat straps any more (although the seat claims to go to 35 pounds). I guess it's because he's tall.

We went to the doctor on Friday for his 9 month check-up and he is:
19 lbs,10 oz (30th percentile)
29 inches long (70th percentile)
17 3/4 inches head circumference (40th percentile)

The big news this month was that Cullen was baptized on January 23rd. We also had weekend visits from Kacy and Bobby and Ali and Jorie. It's always great to see old friends. My mom also came to help out and Uncle Dave came to visit. It was great to see them as well.

Cullen's Baptism: January 23, 2011

Cullen was baptized on January 23rd by Father Dennis McAuliffe at Holy Comforter Catholic Church. He behaved very well during the service and was mesmerized by the priest the entire hour. My brother, David, and Andrew's aunt Amy were the godparents. We had a fun reception at our house after the baptism with Eppie's bbq, mac n' cheese, and broccoli and a yummy cake from Chandler's. Thanks to our family for making the trip up and for our friends who attended as well.
